Problem: The core GETTR app was bloated, laggy, and unstable—especially under livestreaming load. Rebuilding the entire app at once was too risky.

Proposed and led development of a separate, optimized GETTR Lite App focused only on livestreaming
Assembled team, wrote PRD, oversaw dev lifecycle through launch

In 2023, GETTR’s core app had grown into a heavyweight. We packed in short-form video, livestreaming, posts, direct messaging, trending topics, and a growing moderation backend. It was a rich ecosystem—but it came at a cost:
The app was bloated. And it was getting slow.
Responsiveness lagged. Crash rates rose. Load times were inconsistent—especially on mid-range Android devices, which made up a large portion of our international user base.
We knew something had to change. But a full redesign of the GETTR app would’ve been a massive, high-risk undertaking, with potential downtime for millions of users. That wasn’t acceptable.
